Since 1996, Fork has been responsible for the NIVEA internet presence. As the original brand website was to be internationalized and adapted for future NIVEA sites in 2000, we were asked to create a powerful backend solution to centralize localization.

OBJECTIVE
In 2000, as the NIVEA brand website was to be internationalized and adapted for future sites, the client asked us to create a powerful backend solution to centralize localization.

SOLUTION
Fork decided to develop a customized content management system, as standard solutions do not work for brand websites. Hence, contents and functionalities can be easily translated and adapted to local requirements. In order to ensure that all NIVEA websites adhere to the same brand identity the CMS allows using and editing specific fonts (i.e. NIVEA font and non-European characters) and integration of flash animations as well. A number of smart tools such as blacklisting, whitelisting and an approval tool facilitate internationalization. Despite all of these options the CMS can be used intuitively and requires no local training.

RESULTS
Due to the modular CMS concept, design and technology can be centrally developed and implemented assuring a globally consistent brand appearance and maximum efficiency for the client – be it in Japan, Korea, Russia or in any of the other 48 NIVEA countries. In other words: the CMS has been a key factor in the successful NIVEA website internationalization.
