OBJECTIVE
In 2005, Tagesspiegel, one of Germany's biggest dailies, was awarded with the "World's Best Designed Newspaper Award" by the Society for News Design. In 2007, Fork completely redesigned the paper's news portal, translating the prize-winning print design to the web.
SOLUTION
International and unique: tagesspiegel.de is the first German news portal to be based on a wide format offering more space for contents and increased readability. The new serif font, multi-columns and more focus on visual elements reflect the haptic look of the print edition. Furthermore, a clear information structure makes the site more accessible. New features such as the Media Center, online discussions, polls and a "Paper-to-go" function allow for stronger interactivity.
RESULTS
Only hours within the relaunch, Tagesspiegel has received a mass of positive feedback. According to many reviews the wide format, generous layout, new use of colors and enhanced navigation make for a truly metropolitan news portal that fully lives up to its print brother's name.
