OBJECTIVE
Gruner + Jahr asked us to develop a new concept and design (based on a new Web 2.0 strategy) for Eltern.de, one of the largest family websites in German speaking countries. Eltern.de features more than 2000 articles about family issues. It has an active community of registered users who before the relaunch had only been communicating in forums offered by Eltern.de and now can benefit from a fully integrated social network. In order to make use of this wealth of information an additional task was to combine user-generated and editorial contents within a family network.
SOLUTION
Due to the ambitious scale of the project we opted for a clear layout structure and improved resolution to increase usability. Social network functions such as forums, groups, personal photo albums, blogs and recommendations with local relevance enable members to easily communicate and benefit from the power of the network.
RESULTS
Throughout the website editorial and user-generated contents are completely integrated and linked by content related teasers allowing for an age-specific content structure. With this unique social network, Eltern.de manages to target the whole family.
